| | | ring knecked parakeet outside in the back garden the other day ,looking around trying to find mr robin who was gracing my ears with beautiful song, when i looked up and thought what is that , not seen nothing like that , it was rather high up and could only make the sillouette of it. it looked the size of a magpie maybe bigger, it mad a noise ( sounds like a squark but i think my sub conciousness is telling that now) wing beats were smooth & rythmical , the wings were pointed like some kind of turn, and the thing that intruged me most was the pointed tail, long and pointed. it was the only one in the air and was travelling north , (I know that i have weather vain in the garden, wasnt my idea mind)
I looked at a picture of a poster i have with birds on it and thats the only thing i could think it was...
was i seeing paranornal bird flight or what else could it have been? |

| | | Re: ring knecked parakeet Sounds like it could well be a rose ringed parakeet. They make quite a noise when in flight! I can see three of them on the tree outside my office window right now. Noisy blighters but very beautiful! |

| | | Re: ring knecked parakeet Certainly sounds like a Ring-necked Parakeet + you're not too far from the large London population, though I don't see so many when I'm in the northern part of London.
I've never seen one in the Elstree/Borehamwood area where I have occasionally worked, though there used to be a small population of Monk Parakeets there that seems to have disappeared. |

| | | Re: ring knecked parakeet Ring-necked Parakeets are still relatively unusual in the eastern parts of Herts, but they are increasingly being seen in south-western parts of the county (and adjacent parts of Middlesex). | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
