| | | Typically turkeyneck luck Just got back from WWT llanelli where today after spending 'several' minutes in the Britsh Steel hide I decided to leave the bird watchers to it for a while and warm up and grab a coffee at the cafe with a fellow photographer (being the only two with cameras in the hide). No sooner was I tucking into my cuppa when someone came in all excited to tell us to grab our cameras as a Glossy Ibris had just landed. You guessed it not even half way back and the bird had flown, spent the rest of the day looking for it but to no avail. First recorded sighting for WWT llanelli though and someone got a video on a mobile phone I think for the record. 'Ach well' there's a moral to story somewhere?

You wouldn't believe how long I've waited places to see something that I've missed. Develop your sixth sense a bit more, I reckon that's the key.

| | | Re: Typically turkeyneck luck I can well and truly sympathise - I had left the hide too to search for an elusive garganey at the Peter Scott Hide and returned to find and empty British Steel hide with the words Glossy Ibis written in bright red letters in the log book. I did manage to catch a Whiskered Tern at Eglwys Nunydd and a Lapland Bunting at Sker to make up, but it was almost the most perfect day. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
