This year instead of birding on the 1st Jan I am going out to find as many flowering plants as possible.
But for those year listers looking for birds the following are virtually guaranteed.
Great Northern Diver One Oulton Broad normally viewable from the Yacht Station west of there.
Great Northern Diver One Lake Lothing Lowestoft viewable east of the Railway Footbridge acessable from Normanston Park.
Kingfisher Mutford Laock Basin viewable from the path at Saltwater Way. it usually sits on the outfall pipe along the western bank.
Ness Point Lowestoft up to six Purple Sandpipers best seen before high tide on the outfall there (at low tide they disappear as the outfall is the last place to be covered by the tide.
alos on SLP sheds behind the windmill a Black Redstart.
Sotterley Park
Up to three Hawfinches in Beech trees on the right before you enter the churchyard, usually calling and today they were with the Redwings there. also up to three Nuthatches.
