| | | Re: Eagle If I was going to ID this I would say that it looks good for a Buzzard.
...but to be honest there really isn't anything in the photo that helps much with an ID. If anyone does say that it is definitely 'x' or 'y', I would be interesting in their reasons for giving this ID.
Edit: I would probably expect the wing tips to fal nearer the tail tip on a Golden Eagle, but this may be altered due to photographic angle and the fact that the bird is leaning forward.

| | | Re: Eagle From the photo i would have to say it's a buzzard. Especially if it is only 30-40 feet away. Even a young golden eagle would be quite large at that range.

| | | Re: Eagle I hate saying this because it sounds like a cop out but check if anybody has lost a bird of prey first, other wise its very hard to say from your pic if you are sure its not a buzzard. Alan |

| | | Re: Eagle From the location of Munlochy (on the Black Isle, yes?) Golden Eagle would be considerably less likely than Buzzard. It wasn't a Red Kite, was it? (Although the photo says "Buzzard" to me.) Remember, Buzzards are extremely variable in size and plumage and have the strange ability to look both huge and surprisingly small!
