Kingfishers in and around the glasgow area

I have never seen one and wondered if anyone had any tips on where best to see them ?

Hi psg1888 and welcome to WAB.

I've seen them on The River Leven (Dumbarton) The River Kelvin @ Kelvingrove Park and The River Ayr at Auchincruive (SAC college)

All some years past but might just be worth a look-into.

seen them in pollock park and on occasion at ross hall hospital and on the White Cart Water in shawlands ! so there are a few about!

thanks all, the Cart runs past the Linn Cemetry and I can always hear fast flowing water from there.. would that be a decent spot ?

had a look at linn cemetry on google maps ,looks a good place ,plenty of cover ! but they are spreading thanks to a new outlook towards cleaning up the cart ,your not too far from omdi on here! give him a pm i'm sure he'll give you advice ,cheers !!

The river Kelvin in the park area seems to be a good bet according to one of the people who one of my angling friends who does a lot of running in that area.................kercock14

Saw one yesterday on the stream that runs alongside the Ryat Lynn reservoir at the Barrhead Dams.

Head for New Lanark. They're often to be seen around the Falls of Clyde. Get there early on a clear morning and they are a truly remarkable sight in such a dramatic setting.
