| | | saw this small bird today can anyone id I had to creep up really slow on this fella as i only had my sigma 150mm macro lens.I could not get closer than 15-20 metres before it would fly to the next post/bush.The photo is heavily cropped.This is a new bird for me ,i am guessing it may be a female or young redstart or black redstart ? but i would like confirmation

| | | Re: saw this small bird today can anyone id Its a (common) redstart.I carnt see enough features to sex it, they are all rather drab at this time of year. Some males are showing dark around the head including 1st winter ones. I suspect this is more likely a female. |
