| | | A strange noise in the afternoons On the last 3 or 4 afternoons we have heard, what can only be described as continuous 'chirping' this appears to coming from the eaves of the garage next door. I thought it was too late in the year for it to be young birds and there is no sign of a nest.
Does anybody have any ideas please? Could it be bats, I do know a bit about bats as we have had a maternity roost in the past and it is the wrong time of day for bats.
Any suggestions would be very welcome. Thanks |

| | | Re: A strange noise in the afternoons I have been hearing what sounds like fledgling chirping noises from the house next door. But when I looked for the source, all I could see was an adult sized pigeon, but possibly a young one fledged just this year. |

| | | Re: A strange noise in the afternoons is the chirping the same, ie every 5 secs or does it vary ? do they keep budgies, or is there an alarm on the garage, to which if its battery operated , the battery needs changing, the only other thing i could think of it would be a sparrow, rossy. |

Any suggestions would be very welcome. Thanks | Some House Martins are still on the nest - I saw a noisy active nest last weekend. The wet weather has probably delayed breeding. |

Any suggestions would be very welcome. Thanks | Could be bats. I have often heard them in the daytime in their roosts.

| | | Re: A strange noise in the afternoons thanks so much for all your suggestions:
The noise is definitely not just one bird or bat and there are no nests to be seen. It does certainly sound like young bats but too late in the year and in the afternoon!!! Will keep looking/listening |
