| | | Bird id please? Hello and nice to meet you. This is my first post.
I very recently discovered the joys of birdwatching.
I saw this fellow in Oxford, near my home, but I can't identify him/her. He/she was eating berries, if that's any help.
Any ideas?
Thank you! |

I thought blackbird too at first, but the colours seemed all wrong. I thought the beak was always orange... Well, I've still got a lot to learn |

| | | Re: Bird id please? It looks like a young male blackbird losing it's juvenile feathers and gradually becoming black. I've seen a similar one in my garden this year. I think only the breeding males have the bright orange beaks (and eye rings) and maybe the older females too.. but I might have dreamt it |

RSPB has this interesting page with several strange "versions" of blackbirds, if you ever feel confused like me: The RSPB: Blackbird: Funny feathers? |
