A dead Wren and a tick

I came home from work this evening to greet my wife! who very quicky informed me of a dead bird she had found at the side of the house. The said bird was and adult Wren which on closer inspection had a tick attached to its neck, this was about the size of a small pea. Did the tick contribute towards the poors Wrens death! rigor mortis had not set in. so it could have died recently, maybe in the last three hours from when I had seen it.

Can anybody shed some light or may be someone has come across a similar situation?

hello tony a similar thread on 2nd page, death of a sparrow , seems these ticks are common amongst birds, im not that well up on the subject but a few on here are, rossy.

The tick wouldn't have helped. I suspect it also had lice, which would contribute to the blood loss.
