Yesterday I saw an amazing site on the way back from shopping at my local supermarket. The centre reservation of the dual carriageway have very tall T shaped lamp standards. On one of them were five Wood Pigeons in a group of three and two with a fairly large gap between them. Perching in the gap was a female Kestrel. It seemed to me that the woodies were not bothered at all by the presence of the Kestrel. I know Kestrels would not normally go for a woody but usually woodies would flee at the site of a bird of prey.

My woody sits in the same tree as the magpie who eat her eggs this spring, you would think the birds would show more dislike of the magpie. |

At Symonds Yat Rock last Saturday we had a Wood Pigeon go and perch on a tree branch right next to our female Peregrine (who just looked vaguely bored).  |

a couple of weeks ago at work we had 5 sparrowhawks (4 juveniles and a male i think). A pigeon sat right next to them on the lawn and then chased one of them off when it tried to pounce on a squirrel! The pigeon chased it into a tree and then chased it away from the tree....was amazing. | | |
