We have recently returned from a trip to Scotland where we were taken to a castle on the east coast. It houses a falconry.
People will no doubt have their own views on this. However, as a snapper, it was too good an opportunity to miss and a chance to get close to some birds that I had never seen before.
Firstly, a Golden Eagle - according to the castle web site, there were golden eagle flying displays - but not on our visit. A superb creature which I have seen in the wild but only ffrom very far off and not in the UK
Next, the European Eagle Owl
Some owl
Then there was a Goshawk - not many of those in the Fens!
Now two close-ups of a Peregrine Falcon
Followed by some close-ups of the Golden Eagle and its amazing eyes
Finally,a Barn Owl that took part in the flying display
There were other raptors there but not from the UK.
