Ok, first pic:
1 = female pheasant secondary
2 = male pheasant upper tail covert (I think)
3 = male pheasant primary
second pic
1 = duck inner secondary, possibly Mallard
2 = woodpigeon greater covert
3 & 4 not sure, possibly Mallard
third pic
1-3 = female pheasant secondaries
4 = female pheasant alula
5-6 = female pheasant outer tail
This bird seems to have been killed by a mammal, prob fox (feathers snipped by carnassials, or scissors!)
fourth pic
1 = male pheasant tertial
2 = partridge spp tail feather
3 = male pheasant secondary
4 = juv pheasant inner primary |

| | | Re: Feather bonanza 1!!!!! Thanks RKB. I thought most of them were pheasant but they are so varied that I thought I should get them checked.
The photos don't really bring out the true colours and in the above photo (1st feather on the left) the edge is a kind of russet colour which is identical to the colour of the 2nd feather. Does this make any difference to your I.D?
I really do appreciate the help you are giving me on this subject. Thank you. |

The colour on the edge of the pheasant feather should be a bit irridescent, so if you tilt it in the light you'll probably see green, red and purple on some parts. |
