| | | Help please! Baby wood pigeons Just hoping someone can give me some advice. Our neighbours cut down there connifer and unfortunetly two baby wood pigeons have been disturbed. i've managed to save the nest and put the nest into some differant trees and put the chicks back in to the nest. My only concern is will the mum return to feed them? if not what are my options? Help needed! don't want them to starve to death, I could'nt bear it. |

| | | Re: Help please! Baby wood pigeons I would keep an eye on them, watch to see if mum returns, are they very small, if they are half grown she may not sit on the nest with them, she will just return to feed them, so you may miss seeing her.
The parents feed their young on pigeon milk which is pumped from their crops, if they are hand fed they would have to be syringe or tube fed on natural flavoured complan, or soak dog bics to make a milky mash. Pauline. |

| | | Re: Help please! Baby wood pigeons thankyou guys, mother wasn't coming back and we lost one of them so took the other in! he's been with us for 3 days now and we are trying our best! we've named him saha and home to release him eventually. we are feeding him 3/4 times a day with a mix of digestives, weetabix, seeds and warm milky water through a syringe? think this is ok but not sure! i think he's prob about 2/3 weeks old maybe older as he has alot of feathers but still quite a bit of yellow fluff on him. Any suggestions/advice would be appreciated, will try and call wildlife rescue centre but don't hold out much hope as have been told they don't show much interest in wood pigeons! |

| | | Re: Help please! Baby wood pigeons You dont need the milky water - just water. The rest of your mix is fine. You could add egg-food (available from major pet stores), but not essential at this age. I should hope that most wildlife rescue centres will help - Mine will never turn away birds who need help - whatever the species.

| | | Re: Help please! Baby wood pigeons Where are you based?
We recently had to take a young collared dove to a recuse centre and this one was happy to take him (based in Croydon): The Riverside Animal Centre - part of the London Wildcare Trust
Or have a look here to see if you can find a local one (I would recomend ringing them first to double check) Rescue Centres - PIGEON and DOVE RESCUE

| | | Re: Help please! Baby wood pigeons How is the wood pigeon squab? Did you manage to find a rescue centre able to help? We are based in the high north Pennines of County Durham and we have taken in several pigeons, wood pigeons and doves this year. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
