| | strange raptor call walking in the wood this morning when i heard what sounded like two gulls calling just above the trees I rushed out of the wood to get a look, the birds were still calling, looked very much like buzzards to me do buzzards sometime have this call or could it have been a young bird. ps I know what a buzzard looks like just did not get a long look. thank you alan. |

| | | Re: strange raptor call We have heard Buzzards making a strange noise, I think it was a young bird calling the parent bird. |

| | | Re: strange raptor call Thank you for your reply littlesparrow, thinking back I did hear this call a few months back so it could be a variation of a buzzard call, or you could well be right. I have been studying only sparrowhawks since 1947 and still have questions. buzzards have not been in my part of the country for all that long so do have that much knowledge of them...best wishes...Alan. |

| | | Re: strange raptor call i've been observing the juvenile buzzards at a local patch this year and they do have an odd contact call. it does sound distinctly gull-like, i was quite confused when i first heard it.

| | | Re: strange raptor call thank you so much, that seems to have cleared that up, still my two sparrowhawk questions to have answered now. I have been studying sparrowhawks since 1955 not 45 as I said before, still I still feel like 50 that's what counts ha ha. all the best...Alan. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
