| | RE sparrowhawk alarm call/ polygyny thank you for your answer, I have been back since, last year july aug and this year and heard no young calling in the area like they do. I have been watching a pair for 5 years now for the last 3 there has been a polygamous relationship between them, please can you tell me, how common is poygyny in spar hawks and what is the success rate, for the last 3 years this male feeds both hens right up to the point of egg laying and then deserts one, the other hen goes on to success, why doe's this male repeat this every year just to end in failure.
