| | Failed eggs A few months back i posted threads about blue tits that had taken residence in our sparrow terrace. The birds left with no signs of chicks. Today we cleaned the terrace out. THe birds had built a nest in all 3 comparments. One comparment contained 5 unhatched eggs, the second 2 unhatched and the third was empty. Gutted always next year. |

| | | Re: Failed eggs its hard when nests fail but harder when they fail because of ignorant neighbours. i had longtailed tits nesting in my ceonothus shrub, next door decided to cut down a tree located next to it. in spite of me telling them they where there thay carried on and a branch fell right on top of the nest. needless to say the parent never returned ( |

| | | Re: Failed eggs It can be so upsetting when you find that eggs failed so I know how you feel craigdaniel. I had blue tits nest this year and there were 5 successful chicks. However, when I went to clean out the nest box I found 2 unhatched eggs and a dead chick so I was both sad and happy at the same time.
Hopefully you'll get feathery visitors next year who will breed successfully, don't give up!

There should be a wildlife crime officer with the loacal police or talk to the rspb.. |

I was thinking the same. They knowingly disturbed a nest. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
