Seen any swifts lately?

We only saw 3 last night, they did a loop and a screech and disappeared
I think they'll be gone soon too, they have been dwindling gradually in numbers over the last couple of weeks. The skies will look so empty without them, but at least we'll have the shooting stars to watch soon...

Thinking yesterday evening, I haven't seen or heard any for the last few days. They must have flown away!

saw 1 again yesterday, heading west, august 10th, rochdale. rossy.

Saw a mix of swallows /martins and swifts ,wheeling over the fields near the severn bridges today.

One Swift still hanging on from a colony that nests right by where I work in Leamington Spa.

There is normally about twenty plus flying around but virtually all had gone last week with the rest (bar this one) gone by last Friday.

I pass three other colony's on my way to work and those three had gone by last week as well.

I haven't noticed any here for days.

Our local birds, (Market Weighton), were numerous upto the 8th, then I only saw 1 late on the 9th and 2 early on the 10th. None since although in the past I have had birds passing through upto 9th September and last year saw one visiting a nest in nearby village on Aug 20th.

Saw 4 swifts flying south-westerly , catching insects as they went , flying into the sunset ,this evening . Made me feel strangely nostalgic ,and alittle jealous , wish i was heading to africa for the winter !
