Help with bird egg ID please?
Hello!

A friend of mine has discovered an egg burried on her allotment, I suspect by a fox. She is keen to identify it. It looks like a goose egg to me, but it is slightly blue in colour and I am not sure if this is due to it being burried in the ground for a period of time or whether it was this colour to start with. It is about five and a half inches long. Link to photo here:

Could it be a swans? Any ideas please?

hard to tell without measuring, but if you go here: BTO - Birds of Britain and look up Mute swan and Canada and Greylag Goose then it will contain egg sizes, which will clinch it.

Agree on fox.

Thank you so much for the quick response RKB and the useful link. The lenth of the goose eggs seems to be considerably smaller than this one so I suspect it may well be a large example of a Mute Swan egg.
