| | | Robin making a buzzing noise The Robins here have had brood after brood and their calls are helping me identify which stage they are at in their life cycle without me bothering them too much. The latest brood has now fledged.
Just after the parent has collected food, it disappears to feed the young. When this happens there is a sort of buzzing sound that drops in its tone. It's brief and distinctive.
Which bird makes this sound? The adult or the juvenile?
Thanks.

| | | Re: Robin making a buzzing noise LOL, NO! Not bees!
And I can't think of a way to work out which it is, even if I watch them.
It's not exactly a buzzing. It is a rapid noise like a buzzing though. Lasts maybe just over a second. And seems to drop rapidly in tone.
I should try and record it, but I don't know whether we've got a mike.
Anybody any idea?

Anybody any idea? | I think I know which noise you mean - the noise the fledglings make when the parent brings food. Had a look to see if I could find a video online - listen carefully about 10 seconds into this one: YouTube - Fledging robins and their fluffy parent.
Is that it? |

Is that it? | Hi! I had a listen to the recording and it sounded to me like the noise of the babies vibrating their wings . No? |
