| | | Re: Cettis Warbler? Hi Pam
It's a Reed Warbler (imo!). Cetti's have much shorter wings. Legs on Cetti's tend to be pinky brown rather than greyish brown. There are other finer facial features that point to Reed rather than Cetti's.
Compare these (note especially wing length compared to upper tail coverts and primary projection) and see what you think
Cetti's: Iris
Reed: Iris |

| | | Re: Cettis Warbler? Hi both, this is the only other pic, not very good
I hate IDing warbly things I can only get Blackcaps & Sedge Warblers without any trouble
I`m leaning towards Reed Warbler I think

| | | Re: Cettis Warbler? Not sure that's a lot of help Pam! (credit to your husband of course ). I can see why Chris thinks this is a Cetti's but I have to add that along with wing length, the greyish legs with yellowish feet, plus the rather yellow base to bill also favour Reed. Cetti's tend to have pinkier/brown legs and pinkier/greyish bills. Another feature that favours Reed is the eye features - The 'whitish' supercillium on Cetti's nearly always extends behind the eye with the lores dark - Reed Warblers generally have more of a complete eyering which 'circles' the eye - so more of a complete eye ring rather than a pronounced super. |

| | | Re: Cettis Warbler? The Cetti's song is a dead giveaway, but I can only recall having one good view of one, singing in the open right in front of the Noah Hide at Shapwick Heath (it's full of 'em there). Usually I hear them and then get a fleeting view of a dark shape deep in undergrowth and that's my lot!
