| | | Awesome peregrine experience! Hi new member here just wanting to share an experience i had earlier this year.
I was working in sheffield on the top floor (35th i think) of the new apartment tower block thats gone up next to peace gardens. We were wiring one of the apartments when we stopped just to gaze out over the great view, was a beautiful clear day.
The window was floor to ceiling with a small balcony and some boxed cladding the other side of window. when out of the blue a peregrine came up and landed on the boxed cladding about 2ft from me! It didn't even close its wings but took straight back off as it saw me! What an awesome sight until then i'd only seen them on TV. It then circled the tower a few times flying straight past the window about 10-15ft away and was looking straight at me obviously wanting to land there we moved away but it didnt come back.
The pigeons around the area were bombing about all over so it was probs on the hunt or they had spotted it.
I have since asked round and apparently there is a pair in the area.
Just felt so privileged for the experience. From then on kept going and standing in that room hoping for another glimpse but nowt.Wasted loads of work time!
Any others with awesome brushes with birds? |

Will certainly keep an eye out from now on. |

I had a peregrine experience today too, I work in a large town in Lancashire and I was delighted to see two peregrines flying around a tall building in the town...they kept circling and landing on the tower, circling and landing, and crying out noisily too...after several times round the tower the two flew off over the city where I could see them doing what looked like practice swoops after pigeons.
I think the ones I saw were possibly young ones. They were too far away for me to see their markings, but their behaviour didn't seem like the kind of behaviour that adults would show...and they were so noisy! So they must have been nesting on the building they were circling and landing on.
I don't want to say on an open forum exactly where it was, as I'd hate to geopardise them in any way. |

| | | Re: Awesome peregrine experience! well emma i think you must be on about the peregrines in my town, and yes they are very vocal. , its been fantastic to watch them , for the last couple of months, and the 2 juveniles , will be moved on by the parents in the near future, but they have put on some unforgetable moments for us, rossy. |
