Bird I.D. Please?

Hey everybody, hope you're all well.

Just wondered if anybody could help id this fella (or fellarette!)?

Taken in spring this year in woodland in Staffordshire / Shropshire region.

Looks to be a male Chaffinch

I think its some sort of warbler, maybe a willow or chiffchaff. In the first photo I think because its looking down, the shadow is making its head look darker (its the same under the wings too)

Thanks RKB - I considered the same before I posted, but I wasn't convinced by the 'reddy' tone. Didn't think it was red enough in the picture. I imagine this can vary though.

I'm fairly new to this stuff (as you can tell from the technical terms!!) so thanks for the help.

2nd pic seems to show white outertail feathers on the underside (despite the shadow).

Can speculate on this for ever and never will know. Early spring on ash, in the open, with a blueish head, more likey to be chaffinch than anything else so I will stick at that.

Thanks all, guess I'll just have to note it down as a chaffinch then. Was kind of hoping it was something I hadn't previously recorded in my book. Though, still very cool to see another.
