| | | Re: BIRDFAIR Rutland Water Tempted, I've been a couple of times before and enjoyed it. Especially good for info on overseas destinations, and I'm hoping to have a go around South America sometime.
I assume you can be easily recognized because you frequently bang your head on a wooden post?

| | | Re: BIRDFAIR Rutland Water Yep, already booked the Friday off work and squirreled away a bit of pocket money just in case.
All we need now is a bit of half-decent weather |

But come on Picidae, give us a clue

| | | Re: BIRDFAIR Rutland Water Yes I'll be going down as usual. Would anyone be interested in a free guided walk say on one of the evenings, round our farm which is managed for wildlife and conservation? We've won awards for our conservation management and it's a good opportunity to look round a working farm where sensitive management results in nearly 100 species of birds being recorded in the last 10 years, including many red list spp, plus we have numerous Local Wildlife sites, several red book flora and an SSSI. If there is interest I'll organise something, I am already doing one walk for a group of Spanish visitors who will be at the Birdfair. The farm is near Melton Mowbray so only 15 mins drive from Rutland Water. |

| | | Re: BIRDFAIR Rutland Water That's a really kind offer. I'll probably be too tired after manning a stand all day
How will WABers recognise each other - a secret handshake perhaps, or perhaps a coy wink? |

| | | Re: BIRDFAIR Rutland Water Hi
I'm thinking of going myself as long as harvest is going well.
Silly question but is it all birds or do small furry things get a look in too? This seems to be the closest thing to a 'National Wildlife Fair' unless people know better?

| | | Re: BIRDFAIR Rutland Water Mainly birds but most wildlife gets a look in one way or other - eg Mammal Society, British Dragonfly Society etc will be there, lots of wildlife art of all types, books, wildlife holidays etc. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
