| | | Ringed Collared Dove? So I just met this fellow in my garden, first went to chase him off as he'd landed on my washing, but I had to practically push him off! Got within touching distance. He does seem quite tame!
The one thing I noticed is that he's (or she's) ringed, is this normal for something as common as a Collared Dove? I was close enough to read most of it, 59 CRE... something after that which would have involved asking him (or her) to just move it a little.
These are some terrible IPhone pictures. He let me hang out while he ate within 1ft of him. He also got bullied by a bully Wood Pigeon I have come to visit, he bashes other Wood Pigeons about and this Collared Dove let himself get pecked before he actually flew off!
He's a very healthy looking bird, really bright colours, must be a youngster!
I was just curious why it's been ringed and why it's so tame? All other Collared Doves fly off before you've even set foot outside the back door!

| | | Re: Ringed Collared Dove? They are quite confident birds I find. It is likely that you local bird ringing group have caught it and ringed it. All species are ringed especially smaller species of song bird. I do a fair bit of ringing myself it enables you to learn alot about bird age and movements. |
