| | | Redpoll Saw my first Repoll of the winter yesterday at Messingham nature reserve in Lincolnshire. The photo is not a very good one as the bird was a long way off, so it has been cropped fairly heavily and the lighting conditions were poor at the time. ( thats my excuse anyway) I did get good views through the binoculars though.

Redpoll is still one of the ones i've yet to see, i don't think they're very common in the south. I'd love to see one.

| | | Re: Redpoll Thanks for looking folks. This one was with around 10 others mixed in with a flock of Goldfinches.

| | | Re: Redpoll Here is a better photograph of a Redpoll taken today at Messingham nature reserve. it's not perfect by any means but it does show the colours off better than the previous photo

| | | Re: Redpoll Lovely photo- certainly much scarcer down south than they were 2 or 3 decades ago. I remember watching their courtship displays on Wormwood Scrubs in my teens, now they are long gone.
Couple of years back I took a coach party to Titchwell + we had 3 species of them- Arctic, Mealy + Lesser Redpolls all in same Alder. We were all pretty pleased with our luck! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
