| | | Squirrel proof feeders Can anybody recomend a good peanut feeder that the squirrels won't be able to open or destroy?
I've seen a few with cages around them, but would still like the GSW to visit and get food easily |

| | | Re: Squirrel proof feeders I have a feeder that used to be a plastic 6 perch green feeder with metal wire.
the squiggle then chewed all the posts out but couldn't get the top and bottom off.
these are plastic but have holes in them either side that you feed the poles through the plastic and the wire.
This is difficult trying to explain. But anyway I replace the poles with coat hanger wire - as perches, and the feeder though tatty is still going strong for 3 years and the squiggle tries once in a while to get peanuts and just hangs there feeding through the wire but has not learnt yet to pull the perches out to release the food.
the top has the same construction - concave (going in) with two hole either side which just sits in the feeder so you have to thread through the feeder then the hole to the other side.
and I have had a GSW once or twice. Plus a LSW which was a bit surprising.
anyway it worked for me |

| | | Re: Squirrel proof feeders We have tried to stop the squirrels numerous times without success, the only thing that seems to deter them is to have a feeder dedicated to them, ie a custom built one with a perspex front so they can see the peanuts inside, or alternatively one purchased from a wild bird food company. I'm afraid annoying as they can be, this is the only real way we have found. Good luck!!
