baby robin

this little chap is one of the third brood that has been raised by our resident pair of Robins this year, there are at least a couple more young ones scattered about the garden as well,
he seems to have left the nest a little earlier than the previous two broods, but seems to be coping ok

Hi Posie, yes, we are lucky to have the robins and that they are doing so well, much better than our Dunnock's , who have nested without success for several years now, something either takes the eggs or the young or the nest gets abandoned for some reason, Magies are the main suspect here ,
still, thats natures way after all,

I'm sure you are right, he seems capable of quite good flight, and appears to be trying to feed himself, but seems to have no sense of danger at all, letting you come within inches of him but just stands still and cheeps at you, while his siblings seem much more aware, and take cover before you get anywhere near to them,
i wonder what chance of survival he has with that fearless attitude, the Magpies will not show any mercy if they find him

..He probably hopes you are about to push food down his throat, are the parents not feeding him still? he would do better in the food stakes if he stuck with his siblings, under cover....(obviously a 'he', not following the rules.

)
