| | | Re: peregrine chicks shot in forest of bowland Hi Rossy, this is terrible, I have found the article Peregrine Falcon Chicks shot dead in East Lancashire. | Raptor Politics hope they get the culprits, but reading the article, it seems the local wildlife officer is not going to be much help!

| | | Re: peregrine chicks shot in forest of bowland yes i think he, the officer needs replacing, and quickly, seems that area is not being managed correctly, true its a big place , maybe they need more people to patrol it, but would it be cost effective, rossy. |

| | | Re: peregrine chicks shot in forest of bowland Lets make one thing clear, the Peregrine chicks were not shot in Bowland. What has happened is disgusting and the culprits do need to be prosecuted, but to have a go at the wco as they have on raptor politics is stupid without knowing the full facts. Raptor Politics is filled with info of this nature and in most cases the wco gets a slating, you have to ask yourself why. There are some interesting articles on RP but it is one sided and a lot of things that have been said are incorrect. |

| | | Re: peregrine chicks shot in forest of bowland ok then east lancashire not given the actual location for obvious reasons, but read the rest of the story and guess what, several clutches and nests have been raided and where ? the forest of bowland, so to me in that area there is a big problem, if you live near ther do you know something we dont ? its answers we want ,and culprits caught so the forest of bowland is a hotspot woudnt you agree. rossy. |

| | | Re: peregrine chicks shot in forest of bowland Yes Rossy, I know plenty you dont, and believe me its not all good,Bowland does have its problems but compared to many other areas managed for Grouse shooting it is an absolute paradise. Bowland is a very complicated puzzle and unless you are involved you will not understand. Go there and enjoy it but avoid the politics. |

| | | Re: peregrine chicks shot in forest of bowland ok silent flight it appears to me that the chicks were taken out for 1 reason, the hooray henrys can have a good old blast at grouse, so that somebody can make bundles of money, so whos got who in their pocket , to take 3 out you would need 3 to shoot, nests raided by whom, probably the same crew , and you think i should be quiet , i dont think so so some fat cat can sit back counting the money, all i hope is that it gets more publicity ,and the police or the authorities catch them , but like you put ,you know a lot more than i do and to me whos keeping quiet, it isnt me. rossy. |

| | | Re: peregrine chicks shot in forest of bowland You are rightly annoyed Rossy by what has happened but I don't recall telling you to keep quiet, you can shout as loud as you like about what is going on. What I did say was don't try to get involved in the politics of Bowland. There seems to have been a concerted effort in Lancashire this year as several nests have been targeted that are normally safe. Some nests fail on and off on a regular basis but it is very difficult to prove and I say prove who has done it even though we have strong suspicions. If it was that simple they would have been caught long ago. |

| | | Re: peregrine chicks shot in forest of bowland Seems to me that from previous threads the area has form for this kind of thing.
For some unknown reason it doesn't seem to be getting investigated very well at all does it
Can't think why.
(On the other hand we have had 3 car fulls of her majesties finest and a helicopter in our village all afternoon. As we were outside we were asked if we had been approached by anyone selling tea bags -the filth that walks the streets these days uh!!!) |

Prey why should anyone avoid the politics of the situation, Bowland or elsewhere?
