| | | Geese As it was such a nice day today, I popped down to the River Severn at Bewdley. I don't know much about water birds, but I'm learning more and more. I noticed a couple of "schools" of Canadian Geese, where two or three adults were escorting around thirty juveniles, and I know this behaviour is fairly typical of Canadian Geese.
However, I saw a small "family" comprised of two adult Canadian geese, and four domestic-looking geese. One goose had a white front, but it's back had markings somewhat like a canadian goose.
The white geese followed the canadians around like they belonged together. The canadians were acting like the white geese belonged to them. Is this normal behaviour? |

| | | Re: Geese The geese that aren't Canadas are domestic birds derived from Greylag. Away from nesting, when geese are highly territorial, they are sociable birds + different species will flock together. It's also not unusual for these birds to cross breed. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
