Hi folks, perhaps you can help me with a dilemma. I live near a swan sanctuary & once rang up asking if they need any weekend/evening volunteers, they couldn't talk at that time but told me to e-mail, which I duly did, I've never actually worked with swans or wildlife but I've worked with all sorts of farm animals so I'm not afraid to muck in & get my hands dirty. I now work in an office & I need to be working with animals again, I really miss it.
I never got a reply, although a few months later I was sent a letter asking me to buy tickets for some charity evening, so I know they got the e-mail. I presumed they didn't want me either because I wasn't suitable or because they were so busy, they never got around to replying. I'm a bit shy in putting myself forward at first (soon goes though & you can't get me to shut up

) especially if I think I'm not wanted. It's only 5mins up the road tho'. What do you think about just turning up & asking or is that a bit annoying espec if they are busy? It's not a national bird charity, I think it's private. Or should I e-mail again? Never really done anything like this before. What do you think? I know there are a few wildlife rescue volunteer folks on this site.
Alternatively if anyone local to me wants help, please pm me. Trouble is I work full-time so am only really free evenings & weekends. I'm sure my boss wouldn't mind me taking a few small stray beasties in tho to feed if necessary

.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
