Discarded egg

Found this egg on my way out this afternoon in the grass below my two sparrow nest boxes it has a crack in the shell that shows the yolk clearly, it appears to be freshly laid, am I right in thinking this is a sparrow egg? and what would cause this?

Any ideas anyone? looks like it was thrown out the nest but I'm unsure why, the sparrows have already had one or two successful broods this year from the box so can't figure out why they'd throw this egg out

It is a house sparrow's egg - No idea why they chucked it out

I was thinking perhaps she has a new mate and he has thrown the egg out as he wants to make sure the youngsters are his, that's the conclusion I have come to anyway as I did see two male sparrows having a very vicious fight on my conservatory roof a few days before this.
