| | | Nest box fledglings :) Hello all,
just a thread to see how many of you have had they're tendants fledge the nest box recently? My blue tit family left the nest about two weeks ago, a small brood of around 5 or 6 junveniles are still venturing around the area especially around the station hanging around waiting for mum or dad the chew them up a seed.. Quite comical . So, share your stories.
Thanks, HanD. |

| | | Re: Nest box fledglings :) Only 3 eggs hatched in Box 1, which was fortunate as the male bluetit vanished while the eggs were being incubated. We thought there was no hope for them, but the female managed to rear them (we supplied mealworms regularly) and they fledged on June 4th between 6.08 and 6.45am.
Box 3 had 5 bluetit chicks - one fledged on May 30th soon after 11am. The other 4 left the next morning.
Box 2 failed this year - the female vanished after she'd laid her first egg - the male kept coming to the box for well over a week afterwards.
Our Diary is now finished for 2010 - here's to 2011! PS - a few days ago there were eight bluetits on the two feeders outside the kitchen window, and we've also seen 4 juvenile great tits on the suet block at the bottom of the garden. |

| | | Re: Nest box fledglings :) Our great tits had a failure with their first brood. They laid 4 more eggs with the first hatching Friday just gone! So a few weeks to till these fledge hopefully!
I have spotted a couple of fledgling blue tits, green finches and dunnocks around the feeder.
In the garden song thrush, mistle thrush, blackbird, starling and green woodpecker fledglings.
Today I watched a fledgling great tit trying to work out how to get the sunflower seeds and nuts, no parents around so I guess he's on his own now! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
