| | | Robin nesting Hello
We have quite a small garden with a brick wall at end (someone's garage) which is covered in ivy. Last week we noticed 2 robins flying in and out of the ivy and they have definately nested. They fly back and forth with food and we can hear the babies when the parents approach. My husband is currently gardening and the robins are on the ground, almost at his feet, finding worms.
How long will it be before we can expect them to fledge?
Also - as much as I love birds, we have never encouraged them as we have 2 cats and many others in our garden from neighbours. Any preventative measures recommended? (to keep cats away from birds)
thanks |

| | | Re: Robin nesting The young take c12-14 days to fledge + Robins normally have 2 or 3 broods. Hopefully the young will escape the ravages of cats. Short of keeping the cats in until they fledge there's not a great deal you can do- perhaps a bellon a collar may help a little. |

| | | Re: Robin nesting Thank you. How many chicks do they have, normally, in each brood?
Sadly, one was on the floor, under the nest this morning, dead. Very young with hardly any 'fur'. |
