I love going for a walk and taking my camera. Im quite lucky as I live mins walk from reed beds, flashes, canal, open fields and farmland all in a nice compact area.
Sometimes I dont go out looking or aiming for good pictures, I just snap at stuff, usually to then zoom in on the screen to see what it is, I also like the pics as it reminds me a little of the day.
I want to share what you can see with 1 hour of not trying usually gets you.
Sorry about the picture quality. some where taken with a x2 extention and needed manual focusing.
First a very cute juvenile Crested Grebe out on its own and having little dive every now and then. Very pleasent to watch.
I watched these 2 Buzzards way off in the distance. They seemed have small games of chase. I watched these for about 5 mins before they became too distant
I kept seeing this very fast bird flying over the reeds very fast and was confused what it was. It was only when it flew over my head that I realised that it looked like an Arctic Tern. An Artic Tern in Wigan? Surely not.
Good old Herron, it amazes how these birds actually fly but once air borne they fly with such ease. I disturbed this one (Sorry Herron) while getting close to some reeds to take pictures of dragon flies.
Talking of good flyers. Swifts constantly whizzing over head, I think its nearly impossible to get a photo of these in flight, but its mesmerising watching them and fun trying to picture them.
Finally a smile was put on my face when a group over over 30 Canada Goose goslings suddenly decided to take a shine to me and run straight at me. You know that scene from Jurasic Part with the T-Rex running after the car? It was like that, but x30.
No real point to this post really. Just wanted to show you what you can get of 1 hour of not trying. Get out there while the weather is decent.
