| | | Bird of Prey for ID, please I'm not very good at ID-ing Birds of Prey (especially from rubbish pics ) but this is the first time I've seen one flying over my house, and I've lived hear since 1989, so I'm eager to find out what it is
I really hope someone can identify this bird for me from these rather poor pics
Thank you
Being mobbed

| | | Re: Bird of Prey for ID, please looks to me like a peregrine falcon, from the black 'mask', the striped underwings and the size compared to the herring gull.

I only noticed it as the Herring Gull was making such a racket, I looked up and thought oooh, grabbed my camera and clicked away
I've now got a stiff neck from looking to see if it's up there again today

Cheers

| | | Re: Bird of Prey for ID, please i've only seen a few, saw 2 today in the centre of nottingham, they nest on the big uni building but in the 3 years i've been here that was the first time i've seen them. got great views, as they were displaying and calling loudly and perching about halfway up. it was brill!
me and my friend got some funny looks as we looked excitedly through our bins, as its right in the studenty bit of town. haha

| | | Re: Bird of Prey for ID, please Jonathan I thought it was some kind of Pigeon, then with the racket the Gull was making I wondered if it was one of it's chicks, or if it was just trying to keep it away from it's own nest thebeard so my best bet to find it again might just be to go into town and park on the top of the multi story and have a good look, I know that the Gulls nest up there
