In flight shot

Nowhere as good as Bodie's or John's with their new cameras but I am pleased with this as my first in-flight shot and thought I would share it with you all.

Re: In flight shot

Is it a barn owl?
It is a good shot, did he/she get a mouse?

Re: In flight shot

Mrs Fish, yes it is a Barn Owl. Whether it managed to have something to eat I'm not sure although it did drop down in the grass before flying back to the barn.

Nice one Winnie! It must have been a real thrill to see this, never mind get a shot of it.

Re: In flight shot

That's a decent shot Wildone. I've never photographed one at all let alone one in flight so well done I say.

Re: In flight shot

Thank you for those kind comments. Unfortunately it was at the extreme of the camera's range. I see it fairly regularly but always at a distance; at the RSPB's site at Eldernell on the Nene Washes. Maybe one day it will decide to come closer and give me a better shot of it.

That's great. I would just love to see one flying in the wild.

Great shot Winnie, its always going to be special for any photographer when they manage to capture one of these beautiful birds in-flight.

A challenge for 2007 Steve?

The problem with Barn Owls is that they are usually active when the light is poor, so almost any image would be nice to get, but as others have already said this is indeed a good shot!

Re: In flight shot

Thats a decent picture if its your first go. I find flight shots are pretty hit and miss and you need a certain degree of luck too.Right place right time sort of thing.

Re: In flight shot

In flight shots are always very tricky. The actual joy of seeing a barn owl in flight far outweighs any photo. A good photo is only a bonus.
