I think I'm imagining this

I have had a bird coming to my feeder for the past week or so, the shape and size of a Greenfinch, but it has no green or yellow on it. Instead it is pale all over, except for dark brown bars on its wings, and a white rump. From behind it looks like a female Bullfinch, but the front half looks like a pale female Greenfinch.

It won't sit still long enough for me to get a photo of it!!!

It doesn't fit any bird I know. Any ideas?

I'll keep trying to get a photo.

Could possibly be a juvenile Bullfinch with that white rump.

It could be, I suppose, although the head looks wrong. I must spend some time tomorrow trying to get a photo.

No, you are quite right. She finally emerged long enough to see properly, and it is a young female Bullfinch. The head looked sharper when she was flitting about.

Still haven't got a photo though!
