| | | Thrush bird things my girlfriends it's mother My girlfriend (who I don't live with) recently had a thrush's birds nest just outside her front door in a flower pot, we noticed the mother bird had 4-5 chicks in the nest but within couple of weeks the nest was deserted so we assumed they were big enough to fly, anyway a few days later she is sitting in the garden reading a book and notices this young bird sitting right at the end of her foot, and that was the start of it, the bird now just sits outside looking though the patio doors waiting for my girlfriend to go outside so she can feed him or play as he likes sitting by her, sits on her feet and will quite happily let her stroke him, she has only seen the bird fly once but was only upto the fence, she contacted the RSPCA last week for them to come round but when she was trying to catch him with a wash basket this is when he flew, anyway the RSPCA came round soon as they left he came back out. It all sounds great having such a friendly bird, but its becoming too much, were going away on holiday next week so nobody will be there to look after him, she is feeling really guilty and just wants this bird to fly away and be with the other birds, but whenever birds come into the garden he hides away behind a bush. Is there anything we can to try and encourage the bird to fly away and build a nest, if he dosen't I think his going to be killed by cats as he just sleeps under a bush.
Here are a few pics of the bird, could someone please identify him. Imageshack - 28974399778256937571441.jpg Imageshack - 28974399778191937571441.jpg |

Was it this size as it wont be fed by the parents for too long.
I had a young blackbird that was being chased off but would sit round our feet as the other birds wouldn't come close we threw worms to it and it stayed around a while then then went on its way.
They can become quite tame.
I think it will be OK but try to stop feeding it and watch it while your there to see if it can find food itself if so it will be fine when your away. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
