| | | Help / advice please, asap Hi,
Right I came home today to find a baby collared dove from the nest I told you about before on my downstairs windowsill. The nest is empty so both have flown off while I have been out - I cant see the other one or the parents anywhere.
Its bucketing down with rain, its cold and the bird on my windowsill wont move. If I go near him he raises his wings and walks off along the sill but doesn't take flight.
He has let me go right up to his beak with a piece of bread but wont take it.
What shall I do? Its too exposed to leave him on the windowsill I think but I cant see his sibling or parents anywhere? I cant hear them anywhere either.
I have loads of trees and a hedge nearby should I pop him in the hedge which is very close to the window? |

Mum (or dad) came back to the nest to find the chicks gone. The chick walked all the way to the other side of the window sill to try and get closer to mum and mum seemed a bit wary of coming down so low.
The chick was waterlogged and I couldnt bear to see him looking so forlorn so I took the bull by the horns, picked up the chick in a tea towel and did acrobatics hanging out of the upstairs window and put him back in the nest.
He is being fed as we speak. Haven't seen his sibling tho so hopefully he will be ok. |
