| | | Feeder guardian advice, please. I feed lots of starlings and am over the moon about doing so. However, they get through fat balls at such a rate that the smaller birds in my garden are often having to take a back seat until the starlings are at a minimum, or just don't really get a look in at all. I'd like to provide these smaller birds access to thier own fat balls rather than having to battle the starlings. I've looked at a couple of guardians online but most seem to be set up to exclude bigger birds (jackdaws, magpies, etc) or squirrels whilst still having big enough holes to let the starlings in. I wonder if anyone here has purchased or constructed something that will only let the sparrows and tits in.. A gap of arounf 28mm or under should do the trick. |

| | | Re: Feeder guardian advice, please. Hi,
I had a similar problem with mealworms, the starlings scoffed the lot before anyone else got a look in.
I got a mealworm feeder with Guardian from CJ Wildlife and it excludes the Starlings but lets Tits and Robins in. CJ WildBird Foods - Guardians
I then put a separate bowl out with mealworms for the larger birds.
