Can anyone ID this bird,i think its a spotted flycatcher but am almost certain im wrong.

Hallo Bombus Bombus,

It is definitely a Spotted Flycatcher. They are one of my favourite birds and recognised it immediately.

I had one in my garden towards the end of April (a garden first) which could be the earliest recorded in Gloucester. I'm waiting to hear. Where was yours spotted? It does not look like a field hedgerow or a woodland edge were you would normally see one flitting in and out.

Thats a lifer for me,im made up i got correct ID.It was in gardens and kept flitting too and from trees on to this line.Tried to ID the song, books and bird song sites gave it as a si si but coming from the trees was something similar to a blackcap which added to the confusion.
