| | | House Martins Can anyone please shed some light. My home is in the middle of a huge amout of nesting swallows and house martins but mine has never had the pleasure of any nests, however, this year I have two pairs BUT they have not built their nests, they are under my eaves in what looks like a house martin nest but its only the pepple dash, ive checked in the loft and put up a small camera, and sure enough they are nesting. Is this unusual. Please enlighten me, but ooooh im so excited |

| | | Re: House Martins Hi applebren
I've a similar situation, for the last four days a pair of martins have been flying into the northwest gable apex and hanging on chattering to each other. Always after 4.00 pm though.
Today, even this evening I note there are two blobs of mud stuck on the roughcast.
I've never known Martins to nest anywhere other (domestic situation) than in a mud nest under soffits and am not quite sure where yours are nesting.
You've put a camera in the loft - where is the nest in relation to the camera? |

| | | Re: House Martins Thankyou for your reply. It is under the soffit and looks from the outside like its a house martin nest but its really not. The camera is just to the right of the nest and shows that there has been no mud used at all. They are there all the time, ive also recorded their bubbling and flapping last thing at night and before dawn. Maybe mine are just special llike me haha. But Im thrilled all the same |

| | | Re: House Martins I struggle to understand those who don't like the martins nesting on their houses. It's a priviledge to host them. Let us know how the nesting goes.
