| | | What's nesting in your garden? Well, to start the ball rolling, I thought I would give my list as follows:
1. Robin (in an old pile of wood)
2. Chaffinch (in the ivy)
3. Long - tailed tit (in a small bush)
4. Blue tit (in the wall of the old granary)
5. Starling (also in the wall of the old granary)
6. Great tit (in a hole in the trunk of a large tree)
7. Goldfinch (up high in the top branches of a pine tree)
8. Wren (just below the window of the garage - the nest is technically next door, but is only just on their side of the wall)
I am lucky enough to have eight pairs of birds nesting around the garden! How about YOU?

For definite, we had a robin's nest and a blackbird's in the same ivy-encased tree and another blackbird in the ivy on a fence which all appear to have fledged successfully. There are so many places with cover in our garden that I wouldn't want to say whether or not there are nesting birds - we don't go prying for fear of upsetting them. We do get a lot of family groups in the garden, eating from the feeding stations and we've seen a lot of activity from various tits hoovering our insect-infested trees and bushes. Seen fledged house-sparrows, robins, blackbirds, starlings, goldfinch amongst others. This morning, at one feeder, we had about twenty house-sparrows - mix of adults and young, the young being fed by the adults - without wanting to sound too soppy, it was like watching a works family picnic. |

| | | Re: What's nesting in your garden? a pair of robins took up residence in my hubbys fishing net bag, the nets still in it. its only 2ft off the ground, against the dining room window outside. we saw 6eggs, now we have 3chicks , we can see. they dont seem to mind us watching through the window but my persian cat sits underneath the bag, watching them come and go. we shoo her away but she still goes back when were not looking. shes not a jumper so the bags safe at the moment but what can we do when the chicks are more mobile | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
