Yet aother sad day for birding.
John Gooders was an inspiration to many to get out and about and enjoy previously unknown spots away from your local patch.
'Where to watch birds' was a revelation in 1967 and revisions still make it well worth owning, besides his other ID guides etc.

Sad news. I remember using his books as a youngster + buying a weekly mag that was called Birds of the World or something similar.

Pretty sure I saw him at Staines Moor at the end of last year where he was sketching + writing notes on the Brown shrike there.

Proud to say I have the entire collection of Birds of the World he did. I also used to spend much of my time at the school library back in the early eighties drooling over the places and birds in the 'Where to Watch' book. A wonderful man who will be greatly missed.
