| | | Royal Terns Spotted Again Fantastic news, just had a tip off a friend in Llandudno, North Wales, the single Royal Tern which was spotted last year around Llandudno is back, not just one, but 3 of them circling the Bay, West Shore and Orme area. Been there for a solid 2 days now. |

| | | Re: Royal Terns Spotted Again They're here again today. One of the best twitches in ages, plenty of bird watchers about. Being seen mainly around the pier end of the promenade and other side of the pier toward the Great Orme. |

| | | Re: Royal Terns Spotted Again Well I didn't find any reports of them for this year, but I found a link for last year on a blog website, where a royal tern which was in co. cork ireland relocated to north wales a little less than a year ago in june 2009. Perhaps this is the same bird with some friends? I apologize if I'm not supposed to post outside links, I'm not sure. Anyway, the point being that it is certainly possible there's royal terns there. Would love to see photos! UK400ClubRareBirdAlert: MEGA: AFRICAN ROYAL TERN relocated in North Wales |

| | | Re: Royal Terns Spotted Again Possible, but... THREE together???
Still nothing on any of the Rare Bird sites - I trust Twitcher1960 and his friend in Llandudno have reported these sightings to the local Bird Recorder, if not to BirdGuides or one of the other Rare Bird organisations? I find it hard to comprehend how if "plenty of birdwatchers" have seen these birds, there have been NO official reports?

| | | Re: Royal Terns Spotted Again Hi all,
Sorry if you sound a bit mythed, this is where my friend found the original thread last year. Maybe no-one else has seen the Tern here other than us, not seen any bird watchers around to be honest, i'm not affiliated to the other sites you mention. Sorry.
Best update I can give is that 2 were seen on the West Shore side of Marine Drive in Llandudno today, not seen the other one yet, though definitely 3. Is it possible to upload pics here, going to get them off the camera ASAP.
If it's worth raising the alert someone, please do.
Drop me a message if you want me to give you a ring.
Cheers, John. |

| | | Re: Royal Terns Spotted Again I had the pleasure of seeing one of these birds at Abersoch while on holiday at the end of May, last year. There were hundreds of twitchers from all around the country camped out on the harbour area for days. |

| In your second post you said " plenty of bird watchers about." Yes, please do post your photos - there's a thread about how to do so - put them in the Image Library then onto this thread.
You do not have to be "affiliated" to anyone to inform the local Bird Recorder (or the RSPB, BTO or to e-mail Birdguides or the British Birding Association to name but a few) to have your sightings verified. The best description of what you saw with any photographs should accompany your message.
Nobody else can report your sightings as we haven't seen the bird(s), nor have we anything to go on apart from what you have posted here which, if unsubstantiated, I'm sorry to say will go down as at best a misidentification (don't worry, we've all made some howlers if we're honest!) and at worst as a total string, ie, wind-up.
