| | | Red Kite in South Devon A few days ago my wife was out in our back garden and witnessed a sea gull mobbing a red kite. By the time I had got my camera the bird was some distance away but could still be clearly identified and although there was no sign of the sea gull, this poor bird was being attacked by a crow.
This was my first sighting of a red kite and I was surprised at both the colour and size. What a beautiful bird and I will have to try and post a picture |

Good shot of the kite and crow, just a pity they weren't closer.

Jim | Hi Jim,
I totally agree and it would have been brilliant to have 'snapped' the gull mobbing this beautiful bird whilst it was right over our house, but my thoughts are that any snap is better than no snap.
This was my first siting of this beautiful species and I guess I was extremely lucky to have the camera nearby. |

| | | Re: Red Kite in South Devon Where I live red kites are as common as seeing a blackbird. (probably see more kites than blackbirds to be honest).
Yes they are beautiful birds especially when they are really close. Alot of people put raw meat out for them so they swoop down. Often see then in groups of 20 to 30. Great sight, really lucky to be surrounded with such beauty. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
