Can anyone identify the food being delivered to the chick in this photo?

Hi Durrell, it looks like a tiny mammal to me, but then I am known for my vivid imagination......are Woodpeckers carnivirous?..Posie,,(Not much help I'm afraid)

Looks like a tiny fledgling to me, Woodies are well known for breaking into nestboxes and stealing the occupants.

I would say a small nestling too- which they regularly predate.

Thanks for your input. Originally i was thinking it was more insect like ( possibly in a chrysalis) but you may well be right with it being a nestling.
