| | | Sad news indeed! Last week I visited the North Lake at South Hill Park here in Bracknell & got some wonderful shots of the waterfowl & wildlife. Sadly, in this weeks local paper there is a report that the Mute Swan's nesting there have lost their Cygnets for the fifth year in a row! Their disappearance is unexplained. The Lake is not fenced off & therefore foxes & rats could be to blame. The nest however, is very close to the road. It is a fishing lake, so I wonder whether there could be anything big enough in there to be responsible? The Angling Club think not.
Also this week, at the same lake, a Grey Heron has been found dead. Allegedly shot, but as yet unconfirmed.
How awfull that this lovely spot should fall victim to 2 such terrible events in the same week!!

| | | Re: Sad news indeed! Hi Cordaline,
Pike and Carp are capable of downing a young cygnet as well as land based predators.
As for the Heron, it is a terrible shame but these things unfortunately do happen. Even worse the perpetrators rarely get brought to book.
Cheers,
Adam |

| | | Re: Sad news indeed! being the cynic i am, i would say that maybe, just maybe, this club that holds regular pike fishing competitions on that water is in someway responsible, either big pike or they want to make out there is big pike. but as i say i am very cynical. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
