How many Duckling do Ducks usually have!

I only wondered as this is the most I've ever seen belonging to one pair

I'm not sure what type of Ducks they are, but it did seem a bit unfair as there was a pair of Mallards on the same lake with only 2

I think it usually around 8-12, so 10 would be fairly average I guess, depending on different species of course.

Only a couple of the ducklings would make it through to adulthood I would have thought.

They are Mallards with some domestic duck (derived from wild Mallard) type genes in there.

Mallard can have up to c17 ducklings, but many disappear quickly due to the abundance of predators including Pike, corvids, large gulls, rats, Foxes, Mink, etc.

I was over the lake a couple of days ago and she only has 3 left I know it's nature, but it seems such a shame

A mallard at one of my local haunts currently has 10. I saw them in mid May when they were tiny little things, and then a week ago I saw them again and was ecstatic to see that there are still 10.
