| | | How many broods do Robins usually have? Just a quickie, thought I might try & lure a robin, I see regularly, into my outbuilding/shed by leaving a window open. I only just thought of it after reading various posts on here as there are lots of quiet nooks & crannies on the top shelf where they would be undisturbed. Is it too late now?
It's near the back gate (which I don't use a lot) & the feeders but I think it might be ok?

Robins can have several broods a year. You have lovely views from your large garden.
I think you interesed in attracting birds to your garden and I hope I can make some suggestions. Firstly, you seem to have a lack of undergrowth in the form of small bushes which robins like to flit to and from. Most birds like cover. Statues or garden ornaments provide perching posts for robins (and other birds). The more trees you have the more nesting birds you should have.
I enclose a pic of my garden, which is conveniently tidy at the moment. It is designed for the birds, but is used for kicking the ball about, parties etc. I am in my element at this time of the year, sitting out and watching the birds. There was a big field at the back which has been built on and this has affected the amount of finches that I have visiting the garden. I used to have a washing line going diagonally across the garden from left to right, I had feeders all along the line. How I miss all the greenfinches, chaffinches, goldfinches etc that used to swamp the feeders. Your garden seems to be an ideal spot for doing a similar thing.

| | | Re: How many broods do Robins usually have? Thanks Astarsdad. Your garden is lovely! There's hope yet then! I must admit to being lucky to be able to rent a property & live there as the views all 'round the house are stunning. The bit of the garden you can see isn't the main bit, if you face the shed, the main part of the garden is behind you (& in the sun) This is mostly where I concentrate my wildlife planting as I am trying to make my privit provide more fruiting bushes, it's also where my pond is as well etc.
I have planted a cotoneaster since that photo was taken & it's been sown with wildflowers (UK!) & left to get on with it, but now I think I may have to make another(!) visit to the garden centre (ha har ) to get some low growing shrubby things for Mr robin (or blackbird for that matter!) that don't need a lot of sun.
